- KWAIDAN - The Open Mind of Lafcadio Hearn and Masaaki Noda / The 22nd Izukogen Art Festival

In the annual Izukogen Art Festival, at our Hiro Gallery Izukogen, we are proud to present an exhibition of Lafcadio Hearn and Masaaki Noda. Born in Greece, Lafcadio Hearn [1850-1904] lived in Japan and authored a lot of great stories from Japanese forklores. We are going to exhibit the precious materials and overseas movie posters for “KWAIDAN,” a movie made from his works, and sculptures by Masaaki Noda [1949- ], an artist who are mainly active in NY and have made works paying homage to Hearn. The movie is also shown in the venue.

Lafcadio Hearn, Masaaki Noda "Lafcadio Hearn, Odyssey of an Open Mind"

With precious materials from overseas, you could find out his international appreciation and high evaluation. And we also hope you could feel his influence to the contemporary artists from the sculptures by Masaaki Noda.
